October 3, 2024 Council Meeting Highlights

• The Township had issued a request for proposals for a swing set and accessible pathway to be installed outside the Oxtongue Lake Community Centre, however, the sole bid received was approximately $10,000 over budget. Council willl cancel the current RFP and proceed by way of informal request for quotation, reaching out directly to playground companies for quotations for providing and installing the swing set, in an attempt to bring the project to within approved budget.
  
  
• Councillors held an in-depth conversation regarding a Provincial shift in the responsibility for collecting, hauling, processing, and marketing of blue box materials, including related promotion and education activity, from communities to producers of paper products, packaging, and packaging-like 
  products. These discussions will continue.
  
  
• Council selected Option 1 for signage on the exterior of the Dorset Recreation Centre following a public survey.
  
  
•  Council approved an updated Corporate Communications Plan for the Township, and struck a working group for the creation of an official branding strategy for Algonquin Highlands.
