COVID-19 Information:

Due to provincial Covid-19 regulations, backcountry campsites in the Haliburton Highlands Water Trails are closed until further notice. All existing campsite reservations up to and including May 20th, 2021, will be cancelled. A call centre representative will contact all reservation holders to process this cancellation. All fees except the $10 non-refundable reservation fee will be refunded. No new campsite reservations will be taken for any time frame until provincial restrictions allow backcountry camping to continue.

The Township continues to prepare for the opening and operation of municipal facilities and programs however, the changing Provincial Orders have resulted in disruptions in usual preparations such as the hiring and training of seasonal staff which, in turn, can affect the implementation of annually scheduled work. In order to provide safe and enjoyable experiences for the public, Algonquin Highlands will open and operate its facilities and programs as soon as it’s safe to do so for both the public and staff, not necessarily immediately upon a change in Provincial Orders. For information on this and other related Township amenities please visit our COVID-19 FAQ page at https://www.algonquinhighlands.ca/covid-19.php

Algonquin Highlands is home to many of the best water trails and hiking trails in Ontario. Here you can find countless opportunities to canoe, camp, hike, snowshoe, ski, snowmobile, ATV, fish, hunt, cottage or just relax and take in the scenery.

The Township of Algonquin Highlands manages over 38 km of hiking trails, 26 km of nordic ski trails, hundreds of campsites, portages, area lakes and canoe routes. Since 2002 we’ve been successfully working to preserve, protect and promote our outdoor and natural recreational opportunities through a proactive, sustainable management approach.

The Township works in partnership with all stakeholders including the Townships of Lake of Bays, Minden Hills, the County of Haliburton and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
