  • Statement Regarding Ongoing Issues at Maple Lake

    As a result of recent events involving private individuals restricting or attempting to restrict the public’s use of shoreline road allowances, the Township of Algonquin Highlands has had to revert to the unprecedented step of initiating legal action against such individuals.

  • Easter Weekend Hours at AH Facilities

    Please note the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road will be closed on Friday, March 29 (Good Friday) and Monday, April 1 (Easter Monday). The office will re-open to the public at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2. The Algonquin Highlands Trails Office at 20130 Highway 35 North will also be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. 

  • 2024 Solar Eclipse: Monday, April 8

    On Monday, April 8, the Township of Algonquin Highlands, along with other parts of Ontario, Quebec, the Maritimes and Newfoundland, will witness an eclipse of the sun. A solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and the earth, temporarily blocking sunlight.

  • NOTICE: Adoption of 2024 Budget

    NOTICE is provided that the Council of the Township of Algonquin Highlands proposes to enact a By-law to adopt the 2024 Municipal Budget at its Regular Meeting scheduled for Thursday March 21, 2024.

  • Administrative Office closed Monday, February 19

    Please note the Township of Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road will be closed on Monday, February 19 for Family Day. The office will re-open to the public at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20. 

  • Notice of Special Meetings: 2024 Budget Deliberations

    TAKE NOTICE that Council will conduct its 2024 budget deliberations during Special Meetings commencing at 9:00 a.m. on the following dates:

  • Statement Regarding Private Claims to Public Property on Maple Lake

    The Township of Algonquin Highlands wishes to address ongoing events near a public access to Maple Lake along North Shore Road near its intersection with Dawson Road. This property has traditionally been used, for decades, for emergency access and ice fishing. A small group of area residents is making claims they own the property and have been expressing this to members of the public attempting to access the lake.

     

  • Holiday hours at Algonquin Highlands facilities

    The Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road will close to the public at noon on Friday, Dec. 22, re-opening at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2. The AH Trails Office at 20130 Highway 35 North will be closed during the same time period. 

  • NOTICE: Proposed Changes to Fees and Charges

    NOTICE is hereby provided that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Algonquin Highlands intends to consider amending Comprehensive Fees and Charges By-Law 2023-68 at its regular meeting to be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

  • License of Occupation Policy comes into effect Jan. 1

    The Township’s License of Occupation Policy, approved through By-Law 2023-98, applies in cases where privately owned infrastructure is located on a Township-owned shore road allowance separated by a municipally maintained road from the adjacent residence. It was approved by Algonquin Highlands Council during a November 2, 2023 meeting and will come into effect on Jan. 1, 2024.
