Call for applicants for Haliburton County OPP Detachment Board
The County of Haliburton is seeking community applicants for its newly formed Haliburton County OPP Detachment Board.
The Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 (CSPA) came into force on April 1, 2024. The intent of the CSPA is to modernize and create a sustainable framework to enhance civilian governance and to improve community safety through the provision of tools, resources and financial support to police agencies.
The CSPA includes legislation introducing "OPP Detachment Boards" for all jurisdictions across Ontario that receive police services from the OPP, including jurisdictions like Haliburton County that did not previously have Police Service Boards. The Haliburton County OPP Detachment Board replaces the Haliburton County Community Policing Advisory Committee (CPAC).
You can find more information on the OPP Detachment Board and the application process here. The application deadline is August 20 at 4:30 p.m.
