Significant weather closures March 30 2025

In response to a major freezing rain event in the area, The County of Haliburton, the Township of Minden Hills, the Township of Algonquin Highlands, the Municipality of Highlands East, and the Municipality of Dysart et al have declared a Significant Weather Event at 3:00 p.m. local time that will impact travel and services throughout the County. This declaration is made pursuant to Ontario Regulation 239/02, Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways.

 

For the safety of staff and patrons, there will be some changes to Township operations as this event progresses.

Sunday, March 30

- All waste disposal sites will be CLOSED

- Dorset Recreation Centre will be CLOSED, and all programming is cancelled.

- Frost Centre Ski Trails CLOSED

 

There is a potential for extended closures due to the impacts of this event; please continue to check for updates.

EV Charging station at Township Office temporarily out of service

The EV charging station at the Township of Algonquin Highlands Office located at 1123 North Shore Road is temporarily out of service.

Please check the Ivy network charge hub for the nearest alternative location and the current charging station status.

NOTICE: Special Meeting of Council - Monday, March 17

TAKE NOTICE that there will be a Special Meeting of Council on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to adopt a By-law to provide for the rules and regulations for the Township of Algonquin Highlands Cemeteries. The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers located at 1123 North Shore Road, Algonquin Highlands. Members of the Public may also observe the Council meeting by joining a live-stream link.
