Take the Algonquin Highlands Sign By-Law Survey

Algonquin Highlands Council is considering the creation of a Sign By-Law to regulate signage on municipally owned property, including road allowances and other public spaces, within the Township. The proposed by-law would not apply to provincial highways, County of Haliburton roadways or private roads. Under such a by-law, certain types of signage would be recognized as authorized and permitted to remain. Authorized signage could include, for example, real estate signs, federal, provincial, and municipal election signage, signs promoting local charitable organizations, etc.

The Township’s first course of action in dealing with infractions of the proposed by-law would be education and encouragement. Enforcement and fines would come only after discussions with residents have proven unproductive.

The Township is seeking public input on the creation of such a by-law, and what its reasonable parameters might entail. You can access the survey here or find it on the Let's Connect Algonquin Highlands website.
