  • Winter snow-clearing reminders from AH

    With the snow once again upon us, here are few friendly reminders of ways Algonquin Highlands residents can help keep local roads safe for snow-clearing operations this winter. Thanks for your assistance!

    The Algonquin Highlands monthly digital newsletter for December is out now! Published the second week of each month, the newsletter is a great way to stay up to date on all things AH, including Council discussions, event and programming information, environmental tips and more!

  • Algonquin Highlands Office closing early - Monday, Dec. 9

    Please note the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road will be closing at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 9 due to the inclement weather. 

    If you are out on the roads, please drive carefully!

  • End of Declaration of Significant Weather Event

    The significant weather event declared for the Township of Algonquin Highlands on November 29, 2024, at 9 a.m. has been lifted as of December 2, 2024, at 9 a.m.

  • AH declares Significant Weather Event - November 29

    Due to continued snow squall warnings from Environment Canada, as of 9 a.m. on November 29, 2024, the Township of Algonquin Highlands is declaring a Significant Weather Event in accordance with By-Law 2018-118 and Provincial Standards.

  • Special Meeting Agenda: Projects and Priorities 2025

    Algonquin Highlands Council will commence its 2025 Budget discussions with a special Projects and Priorities meeting on Thursday, Nov. 28 at 9 a.m. This is chance for members of Council to hear about potential priority projects for the upcoming year from senior Staff. 

  • Algonquin Highlands introduces new ways to connect

    We are excited to offer residents some new ways to connect with the Township of Algonquin Highlands!

  • Winter sand available in Stanhope and Dorset

    Please note that winter sand has been stockpiled for resident use in Stanhope and Dorset. In Stanhope, sand is located outside the Stanhope Firefighters' Community Hall at 1095 North Shore Road and in Dorset outside the public works garage at 1051 Main Street. Residents are asked to limit themselves to one pail per person, and to please avoid visiting the Public Works yard in order to obtain sand. 

  • Scheduled power outage on Sunday, November 3

    Please note there will be a scheduled power outage this Sunday, November 3 from approximately 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. as Hydro One crews repair critical equipment at the Halls Lake Distribution Station. This outage will affect approximately 3,000 Hydro One customers in Algonquin Highlands and Minden Hills. An outage map can be found below.

  • HIRING: Public Works Operators

    The Township of Algonquin Highlands is seeking applications from experienced, qualified persons for the positions of Seasonal Public Works Operator and Casual Public Works Operator. Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor, the Seasonal Operator and Casual Operator provide a variety of snow/ice removal, maintenance and repair services to roads, bridges, culverts, drainage and other road work, landfills and public access points such as parking lots and landings.
